UPDATED STANDINGS AS CLEAR CUP HOCKEY EDGES CLOSER!
Alright folks, buckle up — we’re just about there! Playoff hockey is right around the corner, and let me tell ya, it doesn’t get any better than this. Hard hits, big saves, clutch goals, and that heart-pounding overtime drama — this is what the game’s all about!
Let’s take a look at the latest standings.
The Breckenridge Vipers came up big last weekend with a full series sweep over the Sin City Kings. That’s four huge points in the bank, folks! And those points matter, because they’ve closed the gap on the San Diego Renegades. The Renegades only managed to grab a single point in their series against their SoCal rivals, the Orange County Mallards.
Now here’s where things get interesting.
San Diego can actually be eliminated from playoff contention this weekend. That’s right! If the Mansfield Barracudassweep the Kings, and the Vipers win just one of their two exhibition games against the Chicago Shamrocks... boom! That could be curtains for the Renegades.
But if that doesn’t happen? Oh boy… then we’re heading for a huge final weekend of the regular season — April 10th and 11th. The Barracudas hosting the Renegades. And let me tell you something, that could decide which two out of these three teams punch their ticket to the playoff semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the champs are just sitting back watching it all unfold. The Reno Ice Raiders locked up first place three weeks ago.. champions already! They’ll be waiting at home in Nevada to host the semi-final winner from the April 17th and 18th series!
And the big one the CLEAR CUP FINAL! that’s locked in for Reno on April 24th and 25th. You know that Reno Ice Arena is gonna be rocking come puck drop!
So here’s the question, folks:
The Vipers?
The Cudas?
The Renegades?
Who’s making the postseason, and who’s packing up the gear early? And more importantly.. who’s heading to Nevada to take on the Ice Raiders for the CLEAR CUP?
I’ll tell ya what… the next two weekends of Mountain Hockey League action are gonna answer those questions!
See you on the ice!
