Reno Veteran Appreciation Weekend
Military Appreciation Weekend Hockey Series
The Reno Ice Raiders Partner with the Northern Nevada Veterans Alliance
for its Veterans Day weekend series against the Chicago Shamrocks.
Reno, Nevada- The Reno Ice Raiders, Reno’s only Senior A Hockey Club,
is proud to announce it is partnering with the Northern Nevada Veterans Alliance for its
home series against the Chicago Shamrocks on November 8th & 9th at the Jennifer M.
O’Neal Community Ice Arena.
The Reno Ice Raiders, coming off a successful opening weekend sweep of the Boston Gold Kings,
look towards the Chicago Shamrocks coming to town on Veterans Day weekend. The Ice Raiders
swept Chicago last season in two close, hard-hitting games in front of sold-out crowds at Reno Ice.
Chicago will surely bring a re-tooled roster and none of the hospitality the Mid-West is known for as
they look to avenge last years losses.
The Ice Raiders, in their fourth season as Reno’s only Senior A hockey club, look to stay atop the
Mountain Hockey League’s (MHL) standings table in this divisional scrap. The season is off to a good
start, as the Ice Raiders convincedly beat the Boston Gold Kings 6-2 and 7-4 in their opening
weekend campaign just last weekend.
Jon Sobieski, a defenseman in his 6th season as an Ice Raider, put it this way. “It’s always good to
come out strong and make sure the rust is off from the off-season. Now we have to make sure we’re
ready for Chicago as they are one of the bigger teams we face this season.”
The Reno Ice Raiders are proud to announce that their series against the Shamrocks will feature a
heavy partnership with the Northern Nevada Veterans Alliance. General Manager Jess Peterson
commented, “We have a great home series on Veterans Day weekend; it’s a no-brainer to partner
with one of the premier Veterans organizations in the area and help them raise some money.” The Ice
Raiders will be wearing one-of-a-kind specialty military-themed jerseys for the series. The jerseys will
immediately be auctioned off after each game, and the proceeds will be donated to the NNVA. The
Ice Raiders will also have military-themed merchandise for sale at the game.
The mission of the Northern Nevada Veterans Alliance is dedicated to serving those veterans who
have selflessly served our nation, ensuring they receive the support, resources, and opportunities
they need to lead fulfilling and successful lives after their military service. They specialize in
connecting Veterans of our armed services with support services and the camaraderie of once again
being a part of a team. You can learn more at https://nnveteranalliance.org.
