PLAYOFFS SEMI FINALS CONFIRMED - BARRACUDAS V VIPERS MATCHUP

Alright everybody, here’s the story after this past weekend... and boy oh boy was it a big one!

Both the Breckenridge Vipers and the Mansfield Barracudas went out there and did exactly what good hockey teams are supposed to do this time of year! they took care of business! Sweeps for both clubs, and just like that they’ve punched their ticket straight into the Clear Cup Semi-Finals. That’s playoff hockey, baby!

Now Mansfield’s not quite done yet. They’ve still got one final weekend of regular season hockey, and they’re hosting the San Diego Renegades. Unfortunately for San Diego, their playoff hopes went out the window this weekend after Mansfield marched into Vegas and swept the Sin City Kings. 

But here’s where it gets interesting.

If the Barracudas win just one of those games next weekend, they’ll jump past Breckenridge in the final standings. And you know what that means... home ice advantage! That would put Mansfield hosting the Vipers in the Clear Cup Semi-Finals on April 17th and 18th. And let me tell you something home ice in playoff hockey? Huge!

Now give credit where it’s due — the Breckenridge Vipers came ready this weekend. They absolutely poured it on against the Chicago Shamrocks with a 10–3 win followed by a 13–5 victory. That’s offense! That’s putting the puck in the net! They made sure there were no doubts about getting into the postseason.

So next weekend it all comes down to one thing who gets to host the semi-final and who has that big home ice advantage heading into the playoffs.

And remember, whoever wins that battle will earn the right to travel to Reno to face the regular season champion Reno Ice Raiders in the Clear Cup Finals.

Folks, it’s shaping up to be some great playoff hockey.
