LEAGUE CHAMPIONS, PLAYOFFS NEWS CONFIRMED AND UPDATED STANDINGS

With just one month away from post-season hockey! We at the MHL felt it was important to provide some important updates as the regular closes to an end!

Firstly, We want to congratulate the Reno Ice Raiders who this weekend confirmed their status as MHL League champions for the 25/26 season. Congratulations to all at the Ice Raiders for finishing the regular season as champions!

As many may have seen, The Santa Rosa Growlers this week announced their departure from the Mountain Hockey League moving forward and that they have chosen not to participate in the Clear Cup Playoffs this year. We have removed the Growlers from the attached standings to avoid confusion, but would like to thank the Growlers organization for their participation over the years and we wish the Growlers family all the best in their future ventures.

With this news developing over the weekend, It allows a new view to be taken on this upcoming Clear Cup Playoffs! A reminder of the format for this coming post-season;

1st Place (Reno Ice Raiders) - Will automatically be placed in the final and will not play in a semi-final matchup, Instead. The Ice Raiders will be hosting the finals on the April 24/25 weekend at Reno Ice arena and will be facing the winner of the semi finals 2nd v 3rd place playoff.

2nd v 3rd will play-off in a semi final weekend in the weeks prior to the final in Reno and the winner over the weekend will advance to the Clear Cup final in Reno.

Currently there is 2 points that seperate 3 teams in the runnings to post-season, with Mansfield (13), Breckenridge (12) and San Diego (11) all with 4 games each left in the regular season.

Should Breckenridge be eliminated from contention, the final regular season series between Mansfield and San Diego April 10/11 will act as the playoff semi-final and determine who advances.

Should Breckenridge still be in contention, a playoff semi-final will take place April 17/18 (location TBA) to decide who advances to Reno.

Clear cup semi/finals is a best of 3 series over 2 regular games. Should the series be tied 1-1 at the end of game two, a sudden death OT period will be played to determine the winner. Overtime will be 5 on 5 hockey with the first goal ending the series. There is no shootouts in playoff hockey!
