GROWLERS SWEPT WEST COAST RIVALS IN OPENING WEEKEND

Holy crow, did you see the Santa Rosa Growlers last weekend? They took on those new fellas, the San Diego Renegades, A clean sweep! four points in the bank right outta the gate!

These Renegades, they packed up their bags, drove all the way up to Pomona County for their big debut. They re-branded, re-imagined and ready to go! They were all fired up! But you know what? Experience trumps enthusiasm, folks! The MHL veterans, the Growlers, showed 'em how it's done!

Game One: A Real Barnburner!

Game one at Snoopy's Ice Palace! Packed to the rafters! And what a show! It was a real thrashing, seven goals for the home side. Listen, the puck wasn't even two minutes old when Toby Petrus opened his account for the season! That's how you start a game!

Now, hold on a minute, I gotta give the Renegades a tip of the cap. They had heart! They showed guts! They battled hard! But their best player? Without a doubt, the goalie, Jack Walsh. Fifty-six shots! FIFTY-SIX! He was facing rubber all night long! He stood on his head, the poor kid. Give him a medal!

Game Two: More Of The Same!

Saturday night, same story, different day! The Growlers take it, 7-2. Series sealed!

But look at this, the Renegades get themselves on the board! Matt Demoulpied makes history! The first goal in franchise history! That's a good memory for the kid. Brought the game within 3-1, but then the Growlers just put the pedal to the metal! Three unanswered goals to end the second period? That's the dagger, folks! Game over!

And look at Cole Diamond! The owner! The GM! He does it all! He's down on the ice, he's netting a goal! And he was a tough guy all weekend, too! Two fighting majors! I love it! A guy who's willing to drop the mitts and put the puck in the net! Thats a thing of beauty!

The Growlers' MVPs? Unbelievable! Koulikousky with six points, Wolford with five, and Keshishian with five! These guys are putting up numbers early, they are rolling!

The Mountain Hockey League is officially back folks!
