Festive Hockey Fireworks in Packed MHL Weekend!

What more could you ask for at Christmas time, huh?! Turkey in the oven, lights on the tree, and FOUR Mountain Hockey League series jammed in just days before Christmas to wrap up 2025 the right way. That’s not holiday music you’re hearing — that’s the sound of slapshots and bodies flying!

Friday:

Breckenridge Vipers 5 – Mansfield Barracudas 3
Jackson Hole Moose 7 – Bozeman Stingers 2
Reno Ice Raiders 5 – Santa Rosa Growlers 4
San Diego Renegades 7 – Sin City Kings 3

Friday night? Absolute mayhem. All seven MHL teams in action and nobody mailing it in — not on my watch!

Six seconds to go.. Reno says NO!

Let’s start in Reno, because holy smokes! Back-and-forth hockey, lead changes, and then Growlers’ Justin Havriliak steps up — penalty shot, hat trick, Ties it up 4-4 with 1:12 left! You think overtime’s coming? NO SIR. Johnny Garrity says forget that, jams one home in a goal-mouth scramble with SIX SECONDS LEFT. That’s hockey! Two points in the bank for Reno, good night, drive safe!

SoCal sweep for the Renegades!

Down in Americas Playground, the Renegades just keep rolling. 7–3 over the Kings, and Lempiainen and Spaargaren both putting up three-point nights. These newcomers are climbing the standings! while the Kings are still digging for their first points. Night one ends in fisticuffs, Dont expect any different on night two folks!

Saturday:

Breckenridge Vipers 4 – Mansfield Barracudas 5 (OT)
Jackson Hole Moose 6 – Bozeman Stingers 7
Reno Ice Raiders 0 – Santa Rosa Growlers 3
San Diego Renegades 5 – Sin City Kings 3

Think you can predict night two? Forget it. This league doesn’t read scripts. We got an OT stunner, a weekend sweep, a 13-goal barn burner in Wyoming, and a shutout to boot!

Cudas Steal it in OT!

In Breckenridge, the Barracudas shook off the altitude, dug in, and stole it in overtime. Vipers’ Eison Nee leads the way on the ice and stats sheet. Netting six points on the weekend (2G, 4A)… But it was Alex Olson burying the OT winner to send Texas home with two massive points. The stay above the Vipers with the OT winner. We got a league just a few points separating 5 teams at the top now!

And Don’t Sleep on the Stingers!

You think the Bozeman Stingers were done after getting pumped by five on Friday? Not a chance. These Montana kids are tough as old barn boards.

Saturday night they come storming back, three unanswered goals in the third, capped off by Eli Harris with the game-winner. That’s pride, folks. They split the series and haul an exhibition point (1) back to Big Sky Country!

That’s a Wrap, Folks

And that’s it before the festive break in the Mountain Hockey League.

Updated standings — including League vs Exhibition wins, proudly sponsored by Bladetech — are locked and loaded as we head into the second half of the season.

From all of us at the MHL:
