GROWLERS BITE DOWN ON VIPERS!
Something you cant question right now... Santa Rosa is rollin’ like a freight train down a mountain! and they are NOT stoppin’ for anybody. They keep that perfect record goin’, takin’ both nights off the Breckenridge Vipers. The Vipers start the season exactly where they left it — on the road, in Sonoma County, and not in a good way.
Game One? Oh baby, Neil Conway — was on FIRE! Five-point night, hat trick, couple apples, the whole works! Kid was flyin’ out there for the Growlers. And hey, give the Vipers a little credit — debut kid Eison Nee picks up three assists in his first MHL game. Not bad, not bad… but still a consolation prize, folks.
Then Game Two — Vipers switch it up in the pipes, bring in the South Dakota kid Brady DeVries for his first MHL start. And ya know what? They jump out early! Two-goal lead from Mitch Bailey and Luke Noble, real nice goals… but the Growlers? They just don’t quit. Saturday night, boom — 6-4, sweep city, thanks for comin’ out!
ICE RAIDERS HAND CUDAS FIRST DEFEATS OF SEASON!
Now let’s talk Mansfield — they thought they were hot stuff comin’ into Reno. Four wins to start the year, lookin’ sharp. But Reno? Tough barn to play in. Game One’s a low-scoring grinder, and I gotta say, Mansfield’s guy Josh Messick in net — he was standing on his head! .938 save percentage, old-school goalie work. But the Ice Raiders? Too much horsepower. They take it 3-1.
Game Two, Mansfield tries to shake things up, but it doesn’t matter — Reno comes out firin’ four unanswered in the first period alone! That’s how you take control, folks. And Hunter Sine? Five-point night, goal and four assists — THAT’S how you lead a team. Reno takes the game, takes the weekend, looks real scary. And now they’re headin’ to the Rockies this weekend to take on the Vipers!
HISTORY MADE IN THE ORANGE COUNTY
Now...HISTORY TIME! Big moment down in Orange County. The brand-new exhibition squad, the OC Mallards, takin’ on their SoCal neighbours, the San Diego Renegades. Game One, yeah yeah, the Renegades show their experience, take a 6-1 win to take their streak to 3 wins in a row! But GAME TWO? The Mallards said “Not in OUR barn!” and absolutely TORCHED the place. 8-2 final. Put it in the books, ladies and gentlemen — the Mallards get their FIRST EVER WIN in the MHL! Good for those kids, real feel-good story. Keep an eye on ’em — I like this team!
That’s all from MHL Headquarters! Another beauty weekend of hockey, folks — see ya next week!
